Joni Ernst Visit

Posted: September 3, 2020

Cresco, Iowa, USA – On the beautiful sun-filled morning of September 2, 2020, Plantpeddler hosted US Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) for a greenhouse facility tour and gathering with the staff. With their Trial Gardens as a backdrop, the Senator spent time getting to know the business of Plantpeddler, and more importantly, the greenhouse industry. Joni was joined by three Iowa House members: Senator Waylon Brown, Representative Jane Bloomingdale and Representative Michael Bergen.

The venue provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the industry and topics important to the health of horticulture. During her visit, Mike Gooder of Plantpeddler, discussed with her the parallels of the greenhouse industry to the confinement livestock industry, which she knows intimately with her background rooted in Iowa agriculture. She left Plantpeddler with a deeper understanding of the important role horticulture plays in the greater community of agriculture.
